A two part webinar series to provide an overview of resources and effective practices for campuses to enroll and support refugee students, focused specifically on refugee students on F1 student visas and humanitarian parole. The webinar series covered a broad range of topics that will set the stage for future more in depth workshops and communities of practice.


Video: Understanding Newcomer Immigration Statuses

This animated video highlights the different humanitarian immigrant pathways that exist in the United States including categories like refugee, asylee, special immigrant visa holder, humanitarian parolees, Cuban/Haitian entrants, and temporary protected status. It provides a basic overview of the criteria that defines each category and acknowledges that each one has implications for receiving ORR benefits. This resource can be used by ORR-funded resettlement agencies to help educate volunteers, community members, and newly hired service providers.

This animated video describes the distinct roles of US government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and local communities in assisting newcomers with the resettlement process. It introduces the Office of Refugee Resettlement and explains how resettlement agencies and community groups work together to offer different services and programs that assist with integration efforts.
